Our proposed flux-concentration electromagnetic pump has been considered for use in fast breeder reactors. Its key operating feature is the magnetic shielding effect, based on eddy currents. A conducting plate with a peculiar structure is inserted between exciting coils and creates magnetic shield. This paper describes the structure of a stator that can realize both the Shielding effect and the increased pump pressure. The FEM approach enables us to analyze the relationship between the pressure characteristics and the ratio of tooth width to slot width. It is shown that there is an optimum ratio, which depends on the exciting frequency. These have been confirmed experimentally on prototype models.
