Decomposition of formic acid on O/Cr(110)-c(3×1) was studied by IRAS. Two types of formates were found: monodentate observed at 1727 and 1382 cm-1 and bidentate at 1567 and 1359 cm-1. Monodentate was decomposed to H2 and CO2 at 442 K, and to CO and H2O at 574 K. Bidentate was decomposed to H2 and CO2 at 608 K.
