The Hokkaido Branch of the Japan Stroke Association has established supporting systems for PCEC/PSLS in Hokkaido. Kindly supported by PCEC Tokyo and PCEC/PSLS Shizuoka, we held “The 1st PCEC/PSLS Hokkaido/Sapporo” on February 7th 2009 which consisted of simulation trainings on cases of acute stroke and coma, including lectures on GRTPA (alteplase). There are some problems facing neurosurgeons and stroke physicians who are willing to join PCEC/PSLS, which we attribute to differences in systems between doctors and ambulance crews, or neurosurgeons and ER doctors, such as gliding work schedules or physician-in-charge system that represents unique style of medical care in Japan.
