Abstract

For the purpose of measuring the work function of CdS single crystals in ultra high vacuum, an all metallic probe head which can be baked up to 400°C was fabricated. Replacing the specimens facing the Kelvin electrode is made by utilizing a turntable. Use of these newly designed parts has made it possible to perform the measurements of about thirty specimens without opening the vacuum chamber and reevacuating it.
